Following a detour that landed his dreamy jams on international labels, AIWA returns to his hometown label Farbwechsel records. Proofless Arithmetic is a collection of improvised, hazy, metallic songs. The sound is very much restrained all through the record but the influence of US and UK dance music, especially boogie, house and techno is still tangible in the relentless drive of the reverberated, muffled beats. In the past few years, improvisation has been AIWA’s most dominant production approach and the sense of immediacy it lends to the atmosphere really adds to its character. AIWA gives himself ample space to take snapshots of this aesthetics from multiple angles and rolls out no less than twenty-one tracks. Better start exploring!
