Sias is a new moniker of electronic music producer, dj and radio host Frank Sweeney, better known as Frank B.
Altough Frank lives currently in NYC, he recorded the album in Dublin using a lot of samples, and therefore the main influence comes from the Irish capital. Also, the artwork made out of city map collages as well as the title ’Office of Public Works’ – where he had a studio – rooted in Dublin’s atmosphere. Experimenting with new directions, Sias differs from Frank’s other project in its more complex and abstract sound.
Yet house but more abstract and lo-fi, his tracks have been recorded live straight to tape. The album has interesting parts, whereas the stoical and repetitive samples enchant you (Rebel, Bansee, Jeweln'Darlin, Wind), sometimes it hypnotizes and makes you dance in trance (Rain, That was Then).
Other times dark structures and industrial patterns sink into the vortex of paranoia (Moving Memory Dump, Spring Communication) but it can encompass you any time changing the deconstruction to an entrancing flow (Laika, Just Like You, Loopline Bridge).
